Is OPP placing Ad Links on my site?

You're admiring your OPP site, when you notice ugly ad links popping up over certain keywords. Noooo! Has it happened? Has OPP sold you out for ad revenue?

Never fear. We would never do such a thing.

There are a few reasons this could be happening, and a few things you should check.

  • Look at your OPP site in a few browsers. Is this happening in only one browser, and is not any special formatting you input into your statement? If it is happening in only one browser, it is possible that that browser has been infected with some kind of “secure your computer” or “accelerate your web experience” trojan software that installed ads into your browser.
  • Is this happening on any other website, such as cnn.com, or on our main site, otherpeoplespixels.com? If so, it's something local to your computer (or ISP), as those two sites would never have ads built into the text.
  • Have you installed anything to your browser lately?
  • Have you checked the add ons and extensions in your browsers? To do this, go to 'Preferences', then 'Extensions' of your browser. If you see anything suspicious or questionable there, click on it to highlight it, and then uninstall it. You may also want to restart your computer as well.
  • You might also want to consider the following:

If you are experiencing this issue in Firefox, please check out this forum post on disabling these types of ad links:
